During World War II, there was a methodological approach which aimed to speed the training of speakers in a foreign language. The pedagogical implication of this approach was that the student should first listen and talk, then read and write; as it happens individually in learning the mother tongue and as with people in general. This methodological view can be explained by one of the following approach. Check it.

Communicative Approach, in which the student is exposed in effective language use situation, with simulations of real situations, and that is taken to use the language quickly, so that it can be properly understood.

Natural Approach, where the student course explores the language by possibilities, allowing the social context of language usage to indicate the best path for interaction.

ALM approach, which established the emphasis on oral language. By the time it rivaled talking with the language, which was not speaking it was not language. Thus, to teach reading was not to teach the language, as written was a very sloppy speech photography.

Listening Approach in which the focus was understanding. The student should improve the understanding of processes and reading comprehension, so that the oral grammar structures stay stored.

Grammar and Translation Approach, that was based on the teaching of a second language first. All information required to construct a sentence, understand a text or enjoy an author is given through explanations in the mother tongue of the student.
